He immediately began developing Mathematica, and it was released in 1988. By the time I arrived on the University of Illinois campus as a freshman in 1995, Wolfram was a local legend and Mathematica had become a part of the U of I math department culture.

Attendees will also be introduced to Mathematica Online, which users at Microsoft Research now have full access to. No experience is required, and all groups are encouraged to attend. Topics may include: Machine Learning, Statistical Analysis, Visualization, Graphs and Networks, Optimization, Random Processes, Queueing Analysis, R Link, and more.

Nigel is an Account Executive with Wolfram Research, with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He has been with Wolfram for over 2 years, working mostly with commercial and non-profit organizations on the West Coast. Nigel leverages his knowledge and expertise, in working closely with clients, to help compliment their vision with Wolfram’s technology stack.
Michael Kelly has used Mathematica since 1992 and has been a Mathematica consultant since 1995. He has given innumerable seminars on the use of Mathematica in finance. He has used Mathematica, MathLink, and Microsoft Excel to set up financial databases, construct mathematical and statistical models of trading data, write code to simulate newly devised trading strategies, write interface code to communicate with the trading platform to institute automated trading, analyze the PNL of trades, write research reports, evaluate options and futures prices, and implement trading strategies. Dr. Kelly is currently a Wolfram Technology Consultant, specifically consulting with Wolfram Finance Platform.

Microsoft Maths also known as Microsoft Mathematics is a freely downloadable educational program, designed for Microsoft Windows, that allows users to solve math and science problems. Developed and maintained by Microsoft, it is primarily targeted at students as a learning tool.[1]

Microsoft Math contains features that are designed to assist in solving mathematics, science, and tech-related problems, as well as to educate the user. The application features such tools as a graphing calculator and a unit converter. It also includes a triangle solver, and an equation solver that provides step-by-step solutions to each problem.
The standalone version of Microsoft Math 3.0 also has support for calculus and Ink Handwriting, allowing the user to write out problems by hand and have them recognized by Microsoft Math.
